Sealants
Our children dental services include protective kids dental sealants. Sealants protect the grooved and pitted surfaces of the teeth from bacteria and an acidic environment. They are especially effective on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth where most cavities in children are found. Made of a clear or shaded plastic, they are applied to the teeth to help keep them cavity-free as part of our preventive dental treatments, though they do not guarantee that your child will not get a cavity.
FILLINGS
For minimal decay, we provide tooth fillings for children using an aesthetic white composite. These fillings are a dental restoration made of a non-toxic substance, offering good durability and fracture resistance for small to mid-size restorations. Because they bond directly to the tooth, less healthy tooth structure needs to be removed, aligning with our philosophy of gentle dental treatment for children.
PULPOTOMY/ ROOT CANAL
A root canal treatment, or pulpotomy, is performed to repair and save an infected or damaged tooth. This procedure removes the diseased pulp within the crown of the tooth. An agent is then placed to prevent bacterial growth and calm the nerve. This is a crucial child tooth decay treatment to prevent infection and abscesses.
DENTAL CROWNS
Dental crowns for kids are used when a tooth is too damaged for a filling. A crown covers or “caps” the tooth, restoring its shape and strength. We recommend this restoration after removing significant decay or performing a nerve treatment. Crowns can be stainless steel or tooth-colored, depending on your child’s clinical needs.
Extractions
When a tooth cannot be saved, a tooth extraction for kids is necessary. This tooth extraction is commonly due to severe decay, trauma, or orthodontic needs. Primary teeth are essential for maintaining spacing for permanent teeth, so if a primary molar is removed early, we will place a space maintainer.
Space Maintainers
Space maintainers are used when a primary tooth is lost prematurely to hold space for the developing permanent tooth. This prevents adjacent teeth from drifting and blocking the permanent tooth’s path. The appliance is removed once the permanent tooth begins to erupt.
